PITCHING GUIDELINE 
LAPP The Brand is a platform created by Leomie Anderson and powered by young women around the world. LAPP The Brand was created to embody the 21st century girl and its intent is to be a point of reference with an outspoken stance on women’s issues including the pressures that young girls face in today’s society.We are constantly on the lookout for freelance writers to create engaging, impactful stories for our readers. We are seeking unique pieces about fashion and lifestyle, politics and culture, as well as feminism, race, education and many other topics. If you feel like you have a fresh story to tell, please apply via this form (LINK). Before you send us your pitches, make sure you take into account the following points.

GENERAL GUIDELINES 
Within our sections we would like to receive news and features pitches that will inform, inspire and entertain the widest possible audience. All the ideas should reflect our principles and values, have social relevance and include independent voices.  Articles must be compelling, thought-provoking, impeccably researched and well-written. We expect all work to be fully fact-checked, accurate, original and free of plagiarism.Just some other suggestions: Please make sure you browse the website before you pitch, we really do not want receive a pitch for an article we published in the previous week. Hold the urge of sending us the full article, instead follow the guidelines below And finally, be original. We have published hundreds of stories written by diverse individuals, so try to look for something completely new: a new idea, a new approach, a new angle. 

YOUR PITCH SHOULD ALWAYS… 
  • Have a suggested headline 
  • Have 3-4 bullet points or short paragraphs (150-300 words max) that summarise the main points of your article
  • Declare whether it is a time-senstive pitch 
  • Include whether you plan to interview anyone, use statistics or references of other people’s work on the topic you are pitching
  • Include hyperlinks for our reference, where relevant 
  • Include a short bio (150 words max) introducing who you are and why you want to write for LAPP

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU 
We value our freelance contributors and put a lot of effort into making sure that is reflected in your experience working with us. That is why we would never ask you to “write for exposure!”, even though we can assure you that LAPP is an excellent springboard for you career. In addition to monetary compensation, we will provide professional and experienced feedback on your work. We will do our best to get back to you in a week or so after you send your email. However, due to the high volume of emails we receive we may not be able to do such a thing, so not all pitches will be replied to. If you have not received an answer within two weeks, please be aware that your idea has not been accepted. But we appreciate persistence, so do not give up!
