Trumps Hates Women and Planned Parenthood
Your president has only gone and done it again! President Donald Trump has released his birth control mandate, medications allowing employers to deny their female employees insurance coverage for birth control and planned parenthood. During the presidential campaign, Trump mentioned that he had plans on removing funding for Planned Parenthood, and in doing so he illustrated that he was against abortions and the use of birth control.
Many men are unfamiliar with the use of birth control or schemes like planned parenthood – maybe because it doesn’t cater to them – hence they think women only use it when they are sexually active. Let LAPP school you. Birth control can be used to prevent unwanted pregnancies, to help those with heavy menstrual cramps, acne, and according to the website Young Women Health it can help with Primary Ovarian Insufficiency (POI).
Some will argue that birth control is a luxury and a woman should just “close her legs” to avoid pregnancy. This argument is redundant and offensive. In America, health care is not free. Without insurance, the pill is $50, the patch is $80 and a IUD is $1000. Women have to go to serious lengths just to receive inalienable rights. Men expect women to be on some form of contraception but throw a fit when asked to bring out a condom.
Birth control is not a luxury, it is a necessity for some. No one should be punished financially for having safe sex or avoiding excruciating pain. A man has no right to dictate what a woman should or should not do to her body. Hilary Clinton tweeted in response to the news “Rolling back no-copay birth control shows a blatant disregard for medicine, science, & every woman’s right to make her own health decision.” This outrage has also led the state of California to sue the President.
We at LAPP are totally against the rollback of Obama-era birth control mandate. We encourage other states to take action. We are not here for this mess!
